Senior Special Assistant to the Delta state governor on Youth Development, Olorogun Dr. Uteme Bateren has commended former Military Head of State, Gen Ibrahim Babangida for creating Delta State from the then Bendel state 30 years ago.
Olorogun Bateren, a community leader in Ughelli held that the creation of Delta state at IBB as he is fondly called is the best thing that has ever happened to the people of Delta.
Congratulating the state governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, stakeholders and leaders on the 30th anniversary celebration, Olorogun Uteme Bateren said, “The governor has brought good governance by creating enabling environment for it citizens which has reduced crime to bring in astute development.
“As a community leader, I can attest to the fact that Gov. Okowa has given room for youthful development through the initiation of various programs ranging from Yagep, STEP, and appointment into various positions in his administration.
“With governor Ifeanyi Okowa inclusion of youths into his administration, we are expecting a more digital Delta before the expiration of his tenure as the governor of the state in two years time.
“As we celebrate Delta State at 30,we cannot rule out our previous leaders that have contributed to the existence of the state since 1991, from the military administration that gave birth to civilian government, it has been from one state of development to another.
“I am appealing to all sons and daughters of the state to come back and join hands with the governor and others to invest in their home state to make the Dubai of Nigeria”.
